“Halloween is more than a day in Chicago; it’s an entire season.” –Explore Chicago

…and boy, are they right!

Chicagoween, the Windy City’s annual fun and frightful Halloween event, has returned! From October 26-30, Daley Plaza will disappear and mystically transform into the Haunted Village of Franken Plaza.

According to Explore Chicago, at Chicagoween, “The…streets are decorated and filled with an array of activities for children and the child within you.”

There are tons of FREE Halloween activities that will leave you amused for days!

  • A screening of the movie, Little Shop of Horrors (Rated PG-13)
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Hayrides
  • Photo Booth Fun
  • Costume Contests
  • Trick-or-Treating
  • Special performances by Midnight Circus, Magic Matt, Dave Herzog’s Marionettes, Storyteller Oba William King, the Batbuck$ Game Show and fcbc educational theatre

And Franken Plaza has added something new this year! Kids can walk through a kid-friendly Ghostly Maze decorated with hay bales, pumpkins, corn stalks, creepy crawlers and flying bats. Inside, they can create their own miniature city within a city with large, blue foam blocks at the Imagination Playground Oasis.

Who says Halloween is only on October 31st? Chicagoween will keep you entertained for the entire week! Check out more information on this Halloween extravaganza today!

And don’t forget to book a room with Broughton Hotels of Chicago  – City Suites Hotel, The Majestic Hotel or The Willows Hotel!

Halloween is oh-so-near! Are you excited? We are! This time of year is full of so many fun things including amazing treats, outrageous customs, scary movies, haunted houses and so much more! What are your favorite Halloween tales? Here are some “haunted” Chicago bars you just have to check out!

Flounder’s Bar & Grill

This tale dates back to the 1800’s with the true Sausage King of Chicago, Adolph Luetget. Story has it; he ground up his wife and killed three of his children in what used to be his factory. In the 60’s it was said to be a house of child pornography. Six months ago, while paranormal investigators were inspecting, doors opened and closed on their own and three camera flashes ignited simultaneously. The team said, “we had more ghost activity there than any place we’ve been in the world.”

Metro & Smart Bar

It’s been said, ghost activity is more common in places near water because it helps them manifest. There is a stream that runs underneath the Metro. In the 40’s, a cleaning lady supposedly hanged herself in the venue’s fourth floor theater, and is now occasionally seen swaying from the rafters. Also, the ladies bathroom is known for it’s ghost sightings as well. Women have seen somebody behind them in the bathroom mirror, but they immediately disappear.

Liar’s Club

This two-story bar has a few characters that are known to visit often. In the 60’s the building was a homeless men’s shelter. It’s been told that a scuffle broke out and one man ended up dead in a corner on the second floor. Two other murders happened in that same corner, but once it was a woman. Customers have claimed they often see the large woman hanging around that corner of the bar, and a man wanders up and down the steps.

Do you believe these tales? Be sure to put these bars on your list of places to hit up this Halloween weekend! Who knows what you might find, or who!
