Fall is such a beautiful season in Chicago! The temperatures are nearly perfect, fall produce is in its prime and there are still plenty of fun things to do outside—but not for much longer! For example, the Green City Market, Chicago’s year-round farmers market, will be held outdoors until October 27—after which it will move indoors to the Peggy Notebart Nature Museum.

According to its website, “Green City Market operates as Chicago’s only truly “green” farmer’s market supporting and promoting local, sustainable agricultural practices. The mission of the Green City Market is to provide a marketplace for purchasing sustainably grown food that educates, promotes and connects farmers and local producers directly to chefs, restaurateurs and the Greater Chicago community.”

The Chicago Green City Market outdoor season is located at the south end of Lincoln Park between Clark and Stockton Drive and runs every Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

So what are you waiting for? Embrace the bright fall foliage and sunshine, and stock up on all your local farmers produce, meats, breads, cheeses and sweets before the outdoor market season closes until next spring!

And don’t hike all over the city with all of your fresh fall produce! We’re in the neighborhood, so book a room with Broughton Hotels of Chicago  – City Suites Hotel, The Majestic Hotel or The Willows Hotel!

Spring is in full bloom! It’s time to pull out those gardening tools and transform your outdoor space from dull and lifeless to beautiful and inviting! Don’t have much of a green thumb? Hyde Park residents and Chicago visitors alike can get their gardening questions answered at the Hyde Park Garden Fair on May 18-19!

Expert gardeners and horticultural specialists will be in attendance to answer any gardening-related questions and help select the plants that are right for you. This fair has everything you need for a lush, beautiful garden. In addition to the hundreds of annuals, perennials, geraniums, trees and shrubs, shoppers can also purchase herb and vegetable varieties to grow their own fresh greens!

All proceeds from the sales will go to excellent Chicago-based causes. A portion will be given to local public park services, while another percentage of the proceeds will be presented to Growing Home, an organization dedicated to helping the homeless and those with criminal records back on their feet.

Attend the Hyde Park Garden Fair 2012, get inspired and welcome the upcoming summer season with an outdoor makeover!
