Chicago, are you ready for some football?

This Sunday, September 9, marks a day that Chicago football fans have been waiting for all year—the Chicago Bears Season Opener. Put on your best blue and orange, head on down to Soldier Field and celebrate one of Chicago’s most anticipated sporting events of the year!

New to ‘Da Bears’ scene? Here are some things to expect when they play the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday:

Since the Season Opener kicks off at noon, Bears fans will fill into the Soldier Field parking lot around 6 a.m. (or earlier) to tailgate. Rain or shine, you will see fans cooking on the grill, tossing the pigskin back and forth and having a good time while getting ready to cheer the Bears to a W.
Before entering the football stadium, fans will be greeted by the Chicago Bears drumline.
Leave the hats, scarves and mittens at home! Just because it’s football season doesn’t mean the chilly fall weather has hit Chicago quite yet.
Are you a Colts fan? Don’t say the Chicago Traveler didn’t warn you—expect a (sometimes) friendly and persistent heckling from some of the Bears’ most passionate and loyal fans.

Don’t have tickets for this weekend’s game? You still have seven more chances to see “The Monsters of the Midway” play at Soldier Field. Check out their 2012-2013 Home Schedule today!

And don’t forget to book your stay with Broughton Hotels of Chicago – City Suites Hotel, The Majestic Hotel or The Willows Hotel!

Baseball season may have kicked off last week, but the excitement for a home opener is still alive in the South Side of Chicago!

After being away at Texas last week during the MLB season opener, The Chicago White Sox will play their first game at home, U.S. Cellular Field, on Friday, April 13, against The Detroit Tigers.

Grammy award-winning rapper, actor and South Side of Chicago native, COMMON will throw out a ceremonial first pitch, while Academy of Country Music award winner, Jack Ingram will perform the National Anthem.

So put on your favorite baseball cap, buy yourself a Chicago dog and a bag of peanuts and take yourself out to the ball game!

Get ready for some of that exciting, electrifying NFL Football; because it’s backand there is nothing stopping its return (anymore)! The Chicago Bears play the Atlanta Falcons for their season opener right here at home in Soldier Field on Sunday September 11th at 1 o’clock pm. Both teams have high expectations this year so expect great football to be played.

Last year the bears were not expected to be nearly as good as they were. In fact, predictions of the team going 4-12 were quite common. But surprising to many, they went 11-5 and made it all the way to the NFC championship game, falling to the current Super Bowl champions and division rivals; the Green Bay Packers.

You can bet the Bears will most definitely do what ever they can to get redemption, and to do that they must win…win a lot. With their ferocious defense and solid offense they have a shot to win it all. Only time will tell. Go Bears!

For all those baseball fans out there, today feels like Christmas! The road to the regular season has finally reached a halt because today, April 1st marks the beginning of Major League Baseball for the 2011 season.

The Cubs new manager, Mike Quade, along with the team are anxious and excited about the season ahead. They performed well throughout camp, and are entering Opening Day with a clean bill of health. The Cubs open today at 1:20pm CT against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Starting on the mound today is Ryan Dempster. This is his third season with the Cubs, and is honored to be the Opening Day starter. He said he has to be mentally tough, and remain as consistent as possible. He is looking forward to the season’s start, and hopes this will be the first of many starts for him this season.

If your schedule allows, head down to Wrigley Field this afternoon to cheer on the Cubs in their home opener. But, if today doesn’t fit into your work schedule, they face the Pirates again tomorrow at 12:05 pm.

Check out the Chicago Cubs for more info about the season and to purchase your tickets! Go Cubs!
